📚 From Overstuffed Bookshelf to Curated Collection! 📚

the curated shelf Feb 05, 2025

If you’re like me, your bookshelves—and let’s be honest, maybe your tables, drawers, and floors, too—are overflowing with books. Over the years, I’ve collected so many: some I’ve read, some I’ve skimmed, and far too many I haven’t even touched. I love books, but it’s clear they’ve started to take over my space and not my mind!

It’s time for a change.

I’m on a mission to transform my overstuffed bookshelf into a curated collection—a space filled only with the stories and ideas I want to return to again and again.

Here’s my plan:

  • Read and thoughtfully purge 50% of my physical books before I allow myself to buy any new ones.
  • Share relevant takeaways and reflections from the books I read along the way. (I promise I won't wax philosophical about my gardening books or detective novels. Well, at least not here!)
  • Embrace slow and steady progress because, as a dyslexic reader, speed has never been my goal—immersion and comprehension are.

(And no, this doesn’t include my digital or audiobooks… although those collections might need their own intervention someday!)

This isn’t just about decluttering. It’s about reconnecting with stories I’ve loved, discovering the ones I always meant to read, and uncovering (or revisiting) the knowledge waiting in my non-fiction books. It’s sure to be an adventure!

If you’ve ever looked at your shelves and felt overwhelmed or wistful, I’d love for you to join me. Let’s share what we learn, celebrate the joy of intentional reading, and create space for the stories that truly matter.

First Book Up!

Time to Decide: Does Getting Things Done Earn Its Spot?

As I began curating my shelves, David Allen’s iconic Getting Things Done was the first book I reevaluated. It’s a title I’ve returned to repeatedly—but does it truly align with the intentional, clutter-free collection I’m building?
